| A smooth female AI voice sounds, " Accessing Parts Database..." Tapping on an item on the list reveals more information. Cores- Spoiler:
Cores are the main part of any NEXT. More often than not, this is the centerpiece of any design. The Core houses the control center of a NEXT (though not exactly a control room, it is where the Lynx pilots the Armored Core from), and is the greatest contributor to the defenses of a NEXT. Cores are split into three main categories: Light, Middleweight, and Heavy. Light Cores are lightly armored, and often provide excellent Primal Armor Rectification and Energy Weapon Defense. These Cores allow for the greatest ease of movement. Middleweight Cores are the most balanced; they still provide the ability to maneuver somewhat well, but provide greater ballistics resistance in exchange for a loss of speed, Primal Armor Rectification, and Energy Weapon Defense. Heavyweight Cores are the heaviest; they weigh the most and, as such, require high load legs to use. However, they have the greatest defenses; generally, they have the most ballistics defense and the worst Energy Weapon Defense and Primal Armor Rectification, but there are some Cores that excel in all the defenses in exchange for a large loss of speed.
Heads- Spoiler:
Heads are what allow a Lynx to see the battlefield. Some heads are designed for long-range combat, with the ability to see clearly at long distances. These heads generally cannot easily track enemies in close combat. Other heads, designed for close combat, can easily acquire fast enemies, though they have a hard time looking into the distance. Heads also contain the IRS, which relays commands given by the Lynx to the parts.
Arms- Spoiler:
Arms, predictably, hold the weapons of a NEXT. Some arm parts are heavily armored, but cannot be moved easily and, as such, cannot track fast enemies. However, these arms tend to have the greatest stability for ballistics weapons with high recoil. Lighter arms can track enemies with ease, however, they provide little defense and have low stability. These arms are generally more suited for energy weapons, blades, or light ballistics weapons. Weapon arms do exist. Instead of regular arms, these instead are simply weapons integrated into a NEXT. This setup conserves weight while still providing high firepower.
Legs- Spoiler:
The legs of a NEXT are the second most important part of any design. The legs determine how a NEXT maneuvers. There are multiple classes of legs: Bipedal, Reverse-Jointed, Quadrupedal, and Tank. Bipedal legs are the most balanced, providing a good defense while still maintaining the ability to remain somewhat mobile without boosters. Reverse-Jointed legs are the most mobile, sacrificing defense for jumping and running ability. Quadrupedal legs are the most stable, allowing NEXTs to use extreme recoil weapons such as Sniper Cannons with ease, however, these legs cannot maintain flight for long; developing a NEXT capable of sustained flight with these legs is extremely difficult. Tank legs are the heaviest and most armored, however, they are the slowest and worst at flight. Tank legs, however, can house full-sized arm weapons in their hangars. Yes, this means that Tank legs can have gatling guns as backup weapons.
Generator and Boosters- Spoiler:
The generator of a NEXT determines the output of energy and Kojima Particles. This in turn determines the ability of a NEXT to sustain energy weapon fire, flight, boosting, Overed Boost, and it also determines how quickly Primal Armor recharges. Boosters control the movement of a NEXT. More powerful boosters use more energy. Some Overed Boosters are capable of Assault Armor.
