Raven scoffed. "You sound pretty proud for beating someone not even piloting a real NEXT." He switched out a couple parts on the NEXT in the display and quickly pulled up a couple other screens with statistics on them.

Raven shrugged, still facing the terminal. "Well, good job," he said. "I don't know if you were expecting some sort of party, but you can go throw one yourself if you want," he said.

Raven froze in the middle of changing a part and turned his head slightly towards Panther. "Faith," he echoed. "You're talking to the wrong person," he said. "You want advice? Sure, I'll give it to you. I'll answer your questions. But faith?" He continued. "Faith won't get you far when it's just you and one other against the two top dogs of an organization hell-bent on destroying you and everything you stand for."

"Yeah, sure," he said and shook his head. "Upstarts these days," he muttered to himself.

"He's a lot like you were, you know," came Serene Haze over his comm link.

Raven clicked his teeth and sighed. "Well, he'd better grow out of that quickly then, or he won't make it far."

"You're worried about him."

"I'm not heartless," Raven said with an annoyed tone. "All I'm saying is, the other pilots won't go so easy on him."

Panther sighed, he didn't really feel all up to another match, and so he decided to take a look at the missions available. "Wonder what got Ravens knickers in a twist." He said to himself.

"Raven? Something's always bothering him," said a responsible-looking man, also looking at the missions board. "Don't let him get to you too much. He used to be a pretty alright guy, but something's got him all bitter lately."

Gerald shrugged. "Nothing in particular. Just wanted to do my part to welcome you here. Not everyone's bad. Even Raven has good intentions." He looked at Panther and nodded. "Don't do something stupid and get yourself killed. You've got a lot of potential, I can see it." Gerald gave Panther a smile before turning and walking off.

The listed missions were mostly escort missions, though there were a couple that stood out.

Investigate Military Force
Destroy Unknown Arms Fort
Assault Mercenary Base

Of the three Panther seemed to be drawn to the Mercenary base, "I guess it's worth a shot."

The briefing for the mission began.

"The client is Omer Science Technology. The target is a sizable outpost for an unknown mercenary group.

No NEXTs have been detected in the area, so you won't have to worry about that sort of opposition. However, there is a large number of Normals. While we are certain that this shouldn't be a problem for a top Lynx like yourself, support is available.

We would hate to limit your choices, so you're open to any pilots registered with Collared. Take this as a show of generosity from Omer, and proof that you'd be making the right choice by taking this mission. After all, who wouldn't want to raise their standing with Omer?

"That means anyone in the Collared register," said Gerald helpfully from nearby. He was drinking from a coffee mug and reading from a holographic newspaper.
