Personality: Drinks and eats a lot, and claims that it helps him to shoot. He's very strict in front of the captain to make sure he doesn't get himself in trouble, but up in the masthead, he tends to drink. He likes to think the only reason he's still on the Continental is the fact that he's a darn good shot with a musket, and has a knack for spotting pirate vessels even when they're just barely visible on the horizon.
History: Matthew grew up on the western coast of Britain, in a little town. As a kid, he used to love pretending that he was the captain of a ship at sea, serving the monarchy. As soon as he was of age, he went to sign up for the Royal Navy. During this time, he developed a tendency to drink; it got him in some trouble a few times, but he learned that people tended not to pay attention to the lookout. So, he decided to go for that. During a pirate attack, he used his pistol to gun down as many pirates as he could. As it turned out, he was a pretty good shot, so they gave him a musket. Ever since, he's been the lookout, and never looked back.
Weapon choice: Two pistols, and a musket. Uses a bayonet when he absolutely has to, but prefers to shoot.
Skills: Marksmanship, spotting pirate vessels from great distances.
Goal: Don't get kicked out of the Navy.

Infamy: The ship's crew likes to pick on him for his drinking.
